The Future of Assisted Living is an investigation into alternative ways to treat and care for our elderly. With our increasingly aging populations -- numbers of those 65+ and 85+ are predicted to increase exponentially in coming decades -- our current go-to models of elderly care need to be reassessed. The following excerpts, part of a larger effort created for Pinto + Partners' urban design of a new elderly care center on the northern edge of Burlingame, details some of the additional issues and potential solutions.
